Road Trip Destinations for Ohio Families
Are you tired of hearing complaints from your kids about being bored? While a little boredom never hurt anyone, going on a
road trip or day trip
can help keep them busy, and you can also make great memories. We highlight some popular Ohio destinations below.
Duke Energy Children’s Museum
Do your kids accuse you of spoiling their fun by always telling them not to touch things they find interesting? If so, they will love the hands-on experience of the Duke Energy Children’s Museum in Cincinnati. The museum consistently receives high reviews and inclusion on the list of Top 10 Children’s Museums in the United States. Geared toward younger kids, Duke Energy Children’s Museum changes its schedule frequently. Its staff advises parents to check the current schedule online before making a visit.
German Village
Columbus is home to an authentic German village included on the National Register of Historic Places. The village has undergone restoration to resemble its original appearance when German settlers established it in the early 1900s. Between the cobblestone streets and the many places to grab a treat, your kids won’t be able to help enjoy themselves.
Spend a Weekend in Hocking Hill
If you’re looking for something to do with your kids for more than an afternoon, consider staying the weekend in Hocking Hills. The area offers plenty of activities for families with children, including horseback riding, mini golf, discount movies and a canopy tour at a kid-friendly zipline. The latter includes additional safety features for its youngest adventure seekers.
Camp in One of Ohio’s 74 State Parks
Although none of the current parks charge an admittance fee, you may incur a fee if you decide to pitch a tent or camper and stay overnight. Several of the state parks offer guests the option to stay overnight in a cabin located within the park rather than a tent or camper. This can be a fun way for families to hang out who don’t want to bring their own equipment or pay the high rates charged by most hotels.
Anthony Thomas Candy Factory
If you really want to capture your kids’ attention, just mention that you’re taking them to a place where they make 25,000 pounds of chocolate during every shift. Admission is just $1.00 for kids over age three and $2.00 for adults. Don’t forget to visit the on-site gift shop after the tour.
Take Time to Visit the Dentist
While you’re busy enjoying all Ohio has to offer, don’t forget to schedule a preventive care exam for your child. We look forward to seeing your child’s beautiful smile soon.
